I just shared on r/termux a screenshot of my development environment running on my old tablet, so I thought I'd share it here as well.

I'll probably get a new tablet in a few more months.  At that time, I'll put my old documentation to the test and install the environment on the new tablet, and refine it and release a new version just for tablets.

I still have the latest version available just for phones, which I last updated back in December.

Yep.  It was the only way FUBAR would ever have gotten finished.

Very impressive! If you need something might as well create it, right?

Absolutely!  Now that I'm working at home (my schedule has hardly changed, believe it or not), I've been taking the time to see if I can adapt my Portable Development Environment into Windows 10 with Windows Linux Subsystem enabled.  It's a mess!  Batch files are far inferior to BASH scripts.  I might just stick to using my Android device(s) for Inty development, and use my PC when I get my hands on an Amico SDK.

I'm getting closer to putting together some YouTube tutorial videos for all this.  So far I can create .mp4 files of a game running within jzintv, with my commentary.  The performance on my phone isn't all that great - it drops a lot of frames - but it works.  I'm still looking for performance tweaks.

Finally, here are the instructions for tablets.  I installed this environment on my new tablet following this documentation just last night, so I know it works.  I wanted to record the whole process for a YouTube video, but this new tablet doesn't have any support for screen video captures like my old and new phones do.

I also went with the "tablet" instructions instead of the "phone" instructions for my new phone, for a few reasons:

  1. Split-Screen Mode didn't fully work with the graphics server like before.  It would hang after a couple seconds.
  2. It's a Galaxy Note, which includes a "Smart Pen" that makes for a good pointing device in the graphical environment.
  3. The protective shell I bought for it has a belt clip that doubles as a kickstand, but only in Landscape Orientation.
  4. It "screen shares" onto my TV very nicely, which also makes Landscape Orientation preferable.

I had to make a correction.  You can get the latest version of jzintv right from the official website, download the source files, and it will compile the same as before, regardless of your device's architecture.  The change to the latest version worked just fine on both my new phone and new tablet.

An update to the documentation for Tablets.  Read the Revision Notes.  I also added some screenshots.

There was a recent update to jzintv to support SDL2 instead of SDL1. I've got it working on all my devices, but with a few tweaks to the Makefile from what is posted for the 20200607 release. I'm waiting until the working Makefile is integrated into another release before posting an update, but if anybody wants to try it out, I can make it available.

I'm at another milestone with my Environment since the last update.  Two if you count the conversion of jzintv from SDL to SDL2.

I created a couple GUI programs within this environment that supplant all those script files.  One maintains a list of your projects and has command buttons that generate the appropriate script on the fly and then launches that script for you.  The other one is a frontend for jzintv, to play your existing games.

Hopefully this makes the environment all the more attractive to newcomers.

By necessity, I rebuilt the whole environment.  Along the way, I switched to VNC and set up a full Desktop.  I rewrote the documentation and posted it, and I also tweaked the front-end for this new environment.

All the updates are posted on my website.  In addition, the screenshots on the site are updated, so you can see how it looks now.  Enjoy.
